Sprint Outage - Solved – November 24, 2008

One of our upstream providers (Sprint) has been having connectivity problems for the last hour, and worse, even after routing to/from them is turned off, they have something misconfigured, so they are grabbing traffic that they don't own, and so generating circular loops into never-neverland.

The worst of it seems to be over, and most traffic seems to be resolving well, but it is not 100% up yet.

As a side-effect of this, I learned about a nifty chart that shows how the big network guys are doing in regards to network times between each other. If you read this shortly after it is posted, you will be able to see the large red cross that clearly shows Sprint broke something.  Glad I'm not the guy who mistyped the route rule or whatever he did that caused the circular loops.

I don't know what that looks like, but if it is that easy to break, we (the people of the internet) probably need some fancier software to catch those typos.  And now, by the time I get to the end of this announcement, all networks that I have access are working fine.
