As I know in Mysql

If you wan to use mysql in GPL license, syou still can sell your product or
servier, the only one contraint is you need your follow GPL and "open your
source"

If you buy the commercial licesne, then you can "close your source ", if you
don't like other people know how you doing it.

Need more elaboration.
