I'm almost happy someone else can reproduce this. Please see the mantis
issue. at the bottom I describe how I'm able to fix the problem.

Do you have validatetrackback plugin enabled for the trackbacked site?

I didn't commit the fix because I didn't have time to do extensive
testing so far.
