On blogfuse.com (which has custom template stuff, and also has used a beta of 
the blog_domain code) I get:

error_updating_blog_subdomain

whenever updating the blog settings.

You can sign up for a blog on that site if you like, and I can give you a shell 
account to look at error message, etc.

I won't be able to look at it until Saturday night, or maybe even next week.
