I may completely miss the point, but aren't we actually registering
"subdomains" but assigning domains to blogs?

User A has coolblog.com, goes to it's control center and sets
"coolblog.com" for his blog which is now at usera.coolblog.com.

User B could use userb.coolblog.com at anytime, couldn't he?

But I guess what you where talking about is something like a pointing
from coolblog.com to usera.blogprovider.com, right?

the second scenario is probably secure enough, but what about the first?
is this possible with the setup as it's now?

BTW: the more config work this feature takes on other software like
apache, php, dns etc. the more support questions not really related to
LT will have to be answered...
