[pLog-svn] deleting posts

Why is it that when you delete a post (or category/trackback/ etc.), it shows "deleted" in red until the admin does the Clean up.   Is this to save on resources?  It seems to me that it would be much easier to just delete it from the system when the user does the action. Just curious, anyway ;)
