Nobody seemed to get my point about the hot chick in the forum.
First of all. I was joking...sort of.
Second of all. For this experiment no hot chicks are actually required.
It doesn't matter if there really is a hottie soothing the ruffled
feathers of distraught users. On the internet who can tell? Face it
though. The forums are the closest Plog gets right now to a storefront.
Interactions that take place there between developers and users are
critical to user perception of plog. I know its annoying that people ask
dumb questions again and again. To be fair, sometimes they're not dumb
its just that they've been answered many times before and we can work on
the documentation to make that happen less. But... Its all about
pressing the flesh. Developers want people to use Plog, they want to be
number one blogging software but that's never gonna happen without some
PR and some marketing. Yes, even though no one's selling anything its
still gonna be necessary to put some thought into this.
Also, another suggestion. If someone's question or feature request is
particularly annoying...DON'T ANSWER IT. Its better not to say anything
than to make the user feel stupid. Someone will probably come along and
eventually answer the question or the person will figure it out. If its
still unanswered in a couple days than maybe a nudge in the right
direction is a good idea.
