 	I don't use anything fancy.  Just emacs.  I have been meaning to 
check out eclipse to see if has anything useful for me.  I suspect 
probably not for LifeType, but maybe some other PHP projects that I do.
 	I spend almost all of my time ssh'ed to one of my servers, so 
network latency would be a factor in any fancier tool that I might use.  I 
like the command line/console stuff, since it is so fast.  (I'm typing 
this from within Alpine (Alternatively Licensed Pine) which I have used 
for the last 13 years, and it is a great client, though I concede not for 
everyone).
 	I've never learned Lisp, so I haven't customized Emacs all that 
much - there are surely some nifty things I could do to make my coding 
life easier if I took the time to learn a bit of lisp.
