Yep, I think that's the problem.

That's why some users complain to me, but some users don't.

So, the better way is create different filter instance for instance purpose.
I think it can works for both PHP4 and PHP5.

 	Probably a php4 versus php5 thing - I'll bet you are running php5,
which automatically made a reference to an object instead of a copy. 
Seems kind of dangerous to automatically do references all over the place.
