[pLog-svn] About the admin page width

Hi All:

About the 1st item, I already implemented in my notebook. The effect looks
greats. I also test it in Firefox 1.0/1.5, opera, and IE 6, all of them
works great. BTW, I use RICO Ajax effect library. This library is base on
Prototype.

With this feature, I think we don't need to change the screen to 1024 any
more... :p

I am also thinking implement this hide/show skill in "custom section" in
newpost/editpot. It can hide the custom field unit we need to use it ... It
will save a lot of screen space...

I will also try to use cookie to remember these settings ...

But, If we get more effects on the pages, that means we need to spend more
"cpu time" on client, and bandwidth in server... It is a trade off..

Anyway, I will commit the code to 1.1 trunk after I clear some html and
javscript garbages...

Then, you can decide to keep this feature or not ..

HI Oscar:

1. I think most pages are okay, the only one problem is newpost and editpost
page. I am thinking to add a button to let user to hide or show the options
in the right sides. So, it can make the WYSIWYG looks larger ...
2. Do you remember I add a pull-down menu before? I plan to add it to 1.1
with user options. The user can enable/disable it through blogsettings. The
default will be current menu-style 3. And, I also plan to review all CSS
settings, to make them looks the same in IE/FF, even in English and Other
languages... It can avoid very small font in other language.

** I already compare our UI with Wodpress' UI, I don't think our options too
complex or too much. It just because the width is too narrow to include
them... :P

How do you think?

Hi Reto:

I like 1024 then 800 actually. It can make the newpost/editpost more larger
(I believe it is the most used page in blogging system) .... :p But, change
the width will be a big pain .... There are so many settings are hard-code
in template, for example, articlelist, categorylist pages ...

I'm not really up for some redesign of the admin interface. It was quite a
lot of work to implement the way it is now...

But if 800 pixels is not really enough for our pages, could it be that
they're already too complex? Can we do some work to make them even easier
before adding more fields?
